What is “Valley Academy”?
Valley Communications Systems, Inc. of Chicopee, Massachusetts provides multiple workshops on various uses of the SMART Board™ interactive whiteboard and other SMART products. We have workshops ranging from “SMART Board Orientation” to full-day, Subject Specific offerings in elementary and secondary curriculum. Both PC and MAC platforms are taught. These workshops are held at Valley Communications in Chicopee, MA, Worcester Technical High School in Worcester, MA, and we will even come to you !

Instructors
To conduct these workshops, we have gathered three of the most respected trainers in the country with a total of more than 62 years in education, training and SMART Board use. As teachers who embrace and use SMART Boards, we know you understand the dynamics of SMART products and their ability to motivate and excite both students and teachers. These workshops are designed to fine tune your current skills and bring greater awareness of the many programs and new applications in SMART products and
software.

Introducing our newest SMART Master Trainers:
Donna LeBretton and Dani Lund

Donna and Dani join Dean Crosier as Valley’s newest SMART Master Trainers


Donna LeBretton joined the team at Valley Communications this Fall and is a K–12 SMART Certified Master's Trainer as well as an experienced educator. Donna received a BA in Elementary Education from Emmanuel College, an M.Ed from Bridgewater State in Guidance, and an M.Ed from Lesley University in Educational Technology.She holds Massachusetts Department of Education certification in Elementary Education K-8, as well as Instructional Technology certification for all levels. Donna’s experience includes 15 years of classroom teaching in both the Whitman and Plymouth public school systems, four years as the Instructional Technology Specialist for the eight elementary schools in Plymouth Massachusetts, and 3 years as the Instructional Technology Coordinator for the Whitman-Hanson Regional School District. She has created and conducted numerous staff development workshops for all grade levels encompassing all content and specialty areas, aligned with the Massachusetts Frameworks.
Donna is also an adjunct professor for Fitchburg State College and has taught 2 graduate level courses on integrating technology in the standards-based curriculum. Donna also maintains an award winning website, R.O.A.R. (Reviewing Online Academic Resources), which provides information, support, and teaching ideas and links for educators, parents, and students.

Dani Lund joined the Valley Communications team after 8 years of specializing in technology education. Six of the eight years was spent as a middle school math specialist and technology coordinator. Dani was then hired as a Technology Integration Specialist at Total Educational Solutions in Technology (T.E.S.T.). While with T.E.S.T, she trained teachers how to use the top teaching technologies including SMART Boards, SMART Products and was the project coordinator for two Montana Technology Grants.

Dani’s accolades include a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Montana State University, SMART Master Trainer for SMART Board Interactive Whiteboards and Master Teacher for the Intel To The Future-Essentials Course.


Dean Crosier started with us in the fall of 2005 as a full time trainer for SMART products and is a SMART factory certified Master’s Trainer for both Windows and Mac platforms. He is a retired Chief Master Sergeant with 27 years of service in the Air Force. His military background includes experience in Communications-Electronics Systems Technology and training. Eleven years of his career were spent at Keesler Air Force Base Mississippi in Air Education and Training Command as an electronics instructor and curriculum developer.


Stuck in the 80s? Get the latest software!
Did you know that software upgrades for SMART Board users are free? We’ve noticed that many of our customers are still operating version 8. The latest version is 9.7 and it can be downloaded free from the SMART website . www.smarttech.com. Version 9.7 is much more powerful with many new and improved features. Please note that the main program contains a Gallery “Sampler” of 249 clipart items; however, there is an additional file titled “Essentials, for Educators” that contains 5000 images that also can be downloaded for free!
